熊本県玉名市天水町の社会福祉法人「天水福祉事業会」の改修工事が始まりました。
昨年8月の水害で浸水した施設を改修するプロジェクトです。今回私たちは、小天保育園1階と天水生命学園1階の作業室の改修設計を担当しています。「元に戻す」ではなく「より良くする」ことを目標に、この10ヶ月間、施設のみなさんと議論を重ねてきました。
工事はまず、浸水した高さより少し上から壁を解体し、施設全体の消毒を行うところから始まります。解体された空間は、どこか清々しく、これからの新しい可能性を感じさせてくれます。

The renovation work has begun for Tensui Fukushi Jigyokai, a social welfare organization in Tensui-machi, Tamana City, Kumamoto Prefecture.
This project involves renovating facilities that were flooded during the heavy rains last August. We are responsible for the renovation design of the first floor of Oama nursery school and the workshop on the first floor of Tensui Seimei Gakuen.
Our goal has not been simply to restore what was lost, but to create something better. Over the past ten months, we have worked closely with the staff and members of both facilities, listening carefully and building the design together through ongoing dialogue.
Construction begins with demolishing the walls just above the flood line, followed by a full disinfection of the entire building. The stripped-back space feels surprisingly open and full of possibility ― a quiet promise of what is yet to come.
