2021年より、福岡県大牟田市四ヶにある「明行寺」の建物の保存・改修計画に関わっています。これまで、ご門徒のみなさまからご要望の多かったトイレの改修を行ったり、納骨堂の再整備に向けた情報整理などに取り組んできました。

そして昨日、プロジェクト開始から約5年を経て完成した本堂大屋根改修工事の落慶法要が執り行われました。私たちは、大屋根改修後の内陣・外陣の照明計画およびその調整を、モデュレックスさんとともに担当しました。

壊すのは一瞬、残すのは大変。建物を壊してしまうのは一瞬ですが、残しながら引き継いでいくことは決して容易ではありません。さまざまな議論や紆余曲折を経て、建築当初と同様の姿で、銅板で葺いた緩やかなむくりや反りをもつ大屋根が完成したことに、関係者の皆さまの強い意思を感じ、深く心を動かされました。

Since 2021, we have been involved in the preservation and renovation of the buildings of Myogyoji Temple in Shika, Omuta City, Fukuoka.
We have worked on improvements such as renovating the restrooms, which were frequently requested by the temple members, as well as organizing information for the redevelopment of the ossuary.

Yesterday, the completion ceremony (rakkei hoyo) was held for the main hall’s large roof renovation, which was completed after approximately five years since the project began.
We were responsible for the lighting design and its adjustment for the inner and outer sanctuaries following the roof renovation, in collaboration with Modulex.

Demolishing is instant; preserving takes time. While it takes only a moment to demolish a building, preserving it and passing it on is by no means easy.
After many discussions and twists and turns, the completion of the large roof—with its gentle curves and upward sweep, clad in copper in the same manner as the original construction—deeply moved us, as we felt the strong will of everyone involved.
