先週は、兵庫県西脇市での現場確認と行政協議のあと、三重県まで足を運びました。福岡市内で進めているプロジェクトのチームと、改めて意識を共有するために。

このプロジェクトは、クライアント内でも部署を横断しながら動いており、関わるチームも東京・大阪・福岡・鹿児島と各地に広がっています。進捗確認や情報共有はオンラインでも十分に回りますが、重要な意思決定や意識の擦り合わせは、同じ時間と場所を共有して、同じ景色や空気の中で行うことが、やはり大切だと感じます。

プロジェクトが1年を超えてくると、議論は自然と細部へと移っていきます。「快適さ・便利さ」や「運営のしやすさ」が中心になるのは、ある意味では当然のことです。ただ、当初「リゾートホテル」のような体験の質を目指していたはずが、気づけば「ビジネスホテル」の話をしている——そんな状況に、いつの間にか陥ってしまうことがある。

だからこそ、あるタイミングで「そもそも、自分たちは何を目指していたのか」と立ち止まり、もう一度目線を揃えていく。それが、長いプロジェクトを走り続けるうえで大切なことだと再認識する、良い時間でした。

Last week, after visiting a project site and attending discussions with local authorities in Nishiwaki, Hyogo, I traveled on to Mie Prefecture.
The purpose was to realign our thinking with the team involved in a project currently underway in Fukuoka City.

This project moves across multiple departments within the client’s organization, and the teams involved are spread across Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, and Kagoshima. Progress updates and information sharing can be handled well enough online. However, when it comes to important decisions and aligning everyone’s mindset, I still feel it is essential to spend the same time in the same place, sharing the same scenery and atmosphere.

Once a project continues for more than a year, discussions naturally begin to shift toward the details. It is understandable that topics such as comfort, convenience, and ease of operation come to the forefront. But sometimes, although we originally aimed to create an experience with the quality of a “resort hotel,” we somehow find ourselves talking about something closer to a “business hotel.”

That is why it is important, at certain moments, to pause and ask ourselves once again: What were we originally trying to achieve? Taking the time to realign our perspective in this way reminded me how important it is in order to keep a long-term project moving forward.
