This design competition is an attempt to reduce the environmental damages by filling common tap water into own bottles instead of consuming individual bottled water. We designed the drinking fountain like a straw that is sticking into the earth.That image is the same as a tree’s root that grows deeply and steady to get nutrition and water.The human beings are parts of nature and water.The human beings are parts of nature and we take in water same as other life on the earth.When People drink water here, they recognize their sameness to various forms of life. We are thinking that we can design the common drinking fountain as the symbol of a symbiotic relationship with human beings and nature.
This drinking fountain shapes like a straw. That is just literally “straw” which we can see real. All of the other functional parts of straw are buried in the ground. The straw is 1200mm high and we can drink water from tap by laying that down.We can lay the straw down about 350mm above the ground therefore everyone can enjoy various uses.We can choose any weatherproof materials not only stainless but also FRP or plastics depending on the situation.

　このコンペティションは、「個別」のボトルにパッキングされた水ではなく、公園に設置された蛇口から供給される水を「共有」することで、環境への負荷を低減しようという試みである。私たちは、大地にストローを突き刺したような形態の水飲み場を提案した。それは、木々が大地にしっかりと張り巡らせた根から栄養分や水分を吸収する状態と同じ形態である。私たち人間も草木や動物と同じように「水」という自然を享受する自然の一部であり、人々はそこで水を飲むという行為を通して、様々な生き物や自然と自らの存在の同一性を認識する。私たちは、人々が共同で利用する水飲み場を、人や自然の共存のシンボルとして位置づけることが出来るのではないかと考えた。

　この水飲み場は、ストローのような形態をしている。地表面に現れたのものは文字通り「ストロー」のみであり、機能部は全て地面の中に埋蔵されていて、高さ1,200mmのストローを傾けることで、吐水口から水が供給される。ストローは、地表面からの高さ300mmのところまで傾けることができ、万人が様々な使い方を楽しむことができる。ストローの部分は、ステンレスのような耐候性の高い金属だけでなく、シチュエーションに応じて、FRPや強化プラスチックなど、様々な素材を使用することもできる。
